Topic: Stephanie Carter, FNTP joins us again to discuss metabolic issues and how changes in diet can help once a diagnosis is given and help prevent the development of metabolic issues in our horses such as Cushings or PPID and Insulin Resistance, IR which is now called Insulin Dysregulation. IR can easily lead to laminitis if not addressed through diet changes. What is healthy as a base diet for all horses is the necessary diet for horses with metabolic issues. We hopefully avoid metabolic diagnosis, medication and the intensive treatment needed for laminitis by making healthy changes to our horse’s diet sooner than later.
